WeaveGrid was founded in San Francisco in 2018 by Apoorv Bhargava, now CEO, and John Taggart, now President, both of whom worked previously in the energy and EV space at companies including Opower and NRG. The company builds software that helps electric utilities integrate rising EV charging load into the grid without triggering costly infrastructure upgrades. Its EV Management System (EVMS) uses machine learning, predictive analytics, and a patented technique the company calls Grid-Aware Distribution-Integrated Smart Charging Orchestration (DISCO) to schedule vehicle charging around real transformer-level load data. WeaveGrid runs managed-charging programs for utilities including PG&E, where its EV Charge Manager program is the largest distribution-focused managed-charging program in the U.S. with more than 7,000 residential enrollees, as well as Baltimore Gas & Electric, Xcel Energy, and Portland General Electric. The company has raised roughly $78 million across multiple rounds, including a $35 million Series B led by Salesforce Ventures and a subsequent strategic investment led by Toyota's Woven Capital. WeaveGrid employs roughly 70-90 people.
