Vyond began in 2007 as GoAnimate, founded by Alvin Hung, and was renamed Vyond in 2018. The company is headquartered in San Mateo, California, with additional offices in Chicago, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Thailand, and employs roughly 250-260 people. It raised a $50 million Series C round led by PeakSpan Capital in 2021. Its core products are Vyond Studio, a full drag-and-drop animated video editor with a large character and prop library, and Vyond Go, an AI-driven instant video maker that turns a script or prompt into a rough-cut video. Vyond added AI avatars and text-to-video generation in recent years to compete more directly with dedicated AI video tools. The platform serves over 20,000 customers, including a majority of Fortune 500 companies, concentrated in training, HR, internal communications, and compliance use cases. Vyond differentiates from AI talking-head tools like Synthesia and HeyGen through its cartoon-style animation approach, though it has layered its own avatar and text-to-video features on top to compete in that space as well.
