Virtuals Protocol

AI agent launchpad on Base where anyone can tokenize, co-own, and trade autonomous agents that post, trade, or perform on-chain.

Virtuals Protocol

Virtuals Protocol runs a launchpad for tokenized AI agents, mostly on Coinbase's Base network, where anyone can spin up an agent, wrap it in its own tradable token through a bonding curve, and let the market decide whether it's worth anything. The project traces back to PathDAO, a Malaysia-based gaming guild that raised roughly $16 million in 2021 seed funding before the 2022 bear market wiped out most of its treasury value; the community pivoted the DAO into an AI-agent protocol in early 2024 and relaunched under the Virtuals name. Under co-founder and CEO Jansen Teng, Virtuals built its own agent framework, G.A.M.E., and used it to launch early breakout agents like the AI streamer Luna and the social-media analyst aixbt, both of which developed real trading volume and, in aixbt's case, a market cap in the hundreds of millions of dollars at its peak. By late 2025 Virtuals said its agents had collectively driven more than $8 billion in cumulative DEX trading volume, and the platform expanded from Base to Solana and Ethereum. The model invites obvious abuse: an agent is only as real as its bonding curve and follower count, and Virtuals itself acknowledges that speculative launches carry rug risk and that some agents get juiced with fake engagement and wash trading before graduating to a public liquidity pool.
