Typefully was built by Italian founders Fabrizio Rinaldi and Francesco Di Lorenzo, who started it as a weekend project in 2020 after their first product, the email digest app Mailbrew, wound down. The company is bootstrapped — Twitter co-founder Ev Williams came on as an investor in 2022, but Typefully has never raised a traditional venture round — and runs with a small team based in Portugal. The core product is a distraction-free editor for writing and scheduling threads and posts, with built-in analytics, a queue-based scheduler, and an AI writing assistant, built on Claude, that studies a user's past posts to draft, rewrite, or extend text in their own voice rather than generic AI phrasing. It publishes to X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon, but deliberately stays out of Instagram, TikTok, and other visual-first platforms. It has grown mostly through word of mouth among the 'build in public' crowd on X and LinkedIn, reporting more than 220,000 users and around $1.6 million in annual recurring revenue on a roughly ten-person team.
