Online estate planning platform that generates state-specific wills, trusts, and guardianship documents, now building AI tools into the process.

Trust & Will was founded in October 2017 by Cody Barbo, Daniel Goldstein, and Brian Lamb to move estate planning out of law-office paperwork and into a guided online questionnaire. Users answer prompts about assets, beneficiaries, and guardianship wishes, and the platform assembles state-compliant legal documents without requiring an attorney meeting. The San Diego-based company has raised roughly $75 million to date, including a Series C round of more than $25 million in March 2025 led by Moderne Ventures with participation from Northwestern Mutual and UBS. Trust & Will says it has served more than one million users and has increasingly partnered with financial advisors and insurers who offer it as a client benefit. The company has been investing its recent funding into AI features meant to review existing plans, flag gaps, and personalize recommendations, alongside continued growth of its core will and trust products.
