Tractable
AI that reads photos of car and property damage to generate repair cost estimates for insurers in seconds.

Tractable builds computer vision models that assess vehicle and property damage from photographs, replacing much of the manual work an adjuster or appraiser would otherwise do on-site. Founded in 2014 by Alex Dalyac, Razvan Ranca and Adrien Cohen out of London, the company trained its models on millions of historical claims photos paired with actual repair costs, letting it predict line-item repair estimates and flag total losses without a human first inspecting the vehicle. Insurers including several of the largest US and Japanese carriers use the platform to triage claims and route straightforward ones to automated settlement. The company raised a $65 million Series E in 2023 led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2, bringing total funding to roughly $185 million, and has expanded from auto damage into property claims and subrogation review. Tractable positions itself less as a single tool and more as an assessment layer that plugs into an insurer's existing claims system through APIs, competing with legacy estimatics vendors like CCC and Mitchell as well as newer AI entrants.
