Tome

Formerly an AI-powered presentation and storytelling tool that converted text prompts into slide decks; shut down its consumer product in April 2025.

Tome was founded in 2020 by Keith Peiris and Henri Liriani, both former Meta/Instagram product managers, as an AI-native presentation and storytelling platform. Using large language models such as GPT-4, Tome let users generate narrative-driven slide decks from short text prompts, reaching roughly 20 million users at its peak. The company raised about $81 million in total funding, including a $43 million Series B in February 2023 led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from Coatue and Greylock, at a reported $300 million valuation. In April 2024 Tome laid off about 20% of staff and pivoted from consumer presentations to enterprise sales-enablement tools. The pivot did not achieve a sustainable business, and Tome shut down its presentation product on April 30, 2025; the founding team went on to launch a sales-intelligence company called Lightfield, while the Tome brand and related assets were separately acquired by AngelList for use in a contract-review AI product.
