Togal.AI was founded in 2019 in Miami by Patrick Murphy, a former U.S. Congressman who was serving as an executive at Coastal Construction, one of Florida's largest general contractors. After watching estimators spend days manually measuring rooms, doors, and fixtures off PDF plans, Murphy assembled a team to build a computer vision model trained specifically to read architectural and engineering drawings rather than adapting a generic OCR tool. The company's flagship product automates construction takeoff and estimating: it detects and counts building elements directly from uploaded drawing sets, lets estimators compare revisions side by side, and exports quantities into existing bid workflows. Togal.AI has filed several patents around its AI-assisted detection methods and has built integrations with tools like eTakeoff Dimension. Backed by a $5 million pre-Series A round led by Florida Funders, Togal.AI says its software is now used by thousands of estimators across dozens of countries, with the company reporting triple-digit annual growth for several years running.
