Titan
Actively managed investing app for retail investors, offering hedge-fund-style strategies and equity-compensation planning for tech employees.

Titan was founded in 2018 by Clayton Gardner and Joe Percoco with the pitch that ordinary investors should have access to the kind of actively managed, research-driven strategies usually reserved for hedge fund clients. The New York-based company built its own in-house strategies covering US equities, credit, and later crypto, rather than routing users into third-party index funds. Titan raised a $58 million Series B led by Andreessen Horowitz in 2021 at a $450 million valuation, adding to earlier backing from Y Combinator and General Catalyst, and has raised roughly $90 million in total. The company has more recently repositioned around serving tech employees who need help managing equity compensation, RSUs, and concentrated stock positions. In August 2023, the SEC fined Titan $1 million for advertising misleading hypothetical performance figures for its crypto strategy; Titan settled without admitting or denying wrongdoing.
