Crop intelligence company that flies submillimeter-resolution drone and aircraft imagery over row crops to catch weeds, pests, and disease before they spread.

Taranis was founded in 2015 by Ofir Schlam, Ayal Karmi and Eli Bukchin to solve a problem familiar to any agronomist: by the time a scout walks a field and spots a weed patch or an early disease outbreak, the damage is often already done. The company built a crop intelligence platform that pairs a fleet of contracted aircraft and drones with proprietary submillimeter-resolution imagery and computer vision models trained to spot stand gaps, weeds, insect damage, and nutrient deficiencies at the leaf level, well before those problems are visible from a truck window or a lower-resolution satellite pass. The company is headquartered in Westfield, Indiana, with a large engineering team in Tel Aviv and an operations base in Campinas, Brazil, and it sells to large agribusinesses, crop insurers, and input retailers rather than directly to individual growers. Agribusiness partners such as Syngenta have used Taranis imagery to run digital field trials, and crop insurers use the same imagery to help settle claims with photographic evidence instead of relying solely on an adjuster's site visit. Taranis has raised more than $100 million across several rounds, including a $40 million Series D in 2022 led by Inven Capital, and its imagery now covers millions of acres across the U.S., Brazil, and Europe each growing season.
