Tel Aviv-born platform that auto-generates and continuously validates internal engineering documentation so it never drifts from the code it describes.

Swimm was founded in Tel Aviv in 2019 by Oren Toledano, Gilad Navot, Omer Rosenbaum, and Tom Ahi Dror, who met while running the Israel Tech Challenge coding academy and grew frustrated watching engineers ignore documentation the moment it fell out of sync with the underlying code. The company raised a $27.6 million Series A in November 2021 led by Insight Partners, with Dawn Capital, Pitango First, and TAU Ventures also participating, bringing total funding to roughly $33 million. Rather than treating docs as static pages, Swimm ties documentation to specific lines of code using what it calls smart tokens, then runs a check in CI that flags a doc as stale the moment the underlying code changes. Engineers write and review docs the same way they review pull requests, inside GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or Azure DevOps, with plugins for VS Code and the JetBrains IDE family. Swimm sells mainly to mid-size and enterprise engineering organizations that have already tried a wiki and watched it rot within a quarter. Recent releases have layered generative AI on top of the auto-sync engine to draft first-pass documentation directly from a pull request's diff.
