AI platform that turns a few prompts into a fully illustrated, narrated children's story, built for parents and young readers.

StoryBird.ai was founded in New York in 2023 by Steven Ebin, previously a growth lead at companies including InVision and Optimizely and host of a children's-stories podcast, and Deep Mehta, whose background is in deep learning research at NYU. The two set out to let a parent or child describe a story idea and get back an illustrated book, complete with characters who can be talked to afterward, rather than a plain block of AI-generated text. The platform generates story text, illustrations and audio narration together, and lets users export a finished book as a PDF or publish it independently, including through Amazon's self-publishing tools. It's a small, self-funded team — Ebin has said the company hasn't taken outside funding — competing in a crowded field of AI storybook generators aimed at families and classrooms.
