Snorkel AI was founded out of the Stanford AI Lab in 2019. Its work developed from the open-source Snorkel project and the 2017 VLDB paper that introduced its data-programming and weak-supervision approach. The company develops expert-curated datasets, benchmarks, evaluation frameworks, environments, and custom AI solutions for frontier models and agentic AI systems. Its platform includes Snorkel Flow, a data-development platform for building and evaluating specialized AI systems. In July 2020, the company announced $15 million in combined seed and Series A funding. On May 29, 2025, Snorkel AI announced a $100 million Series D round led by Addition at a $1.3 billion valuation.
