Snappt

Fraud detection and income verification software that screens rental application documents for property managers.

Snappt

Snappt was founded in Los Angeles in 2019 by Daniel Berlind and Noah Goldman, both of whom came from families running multifamily property management businesses and had watched applicants submit doctored bank statements and pay stubs to qualify for units they couldn't actually afford. The company built forensic document analysis software that checks metadata, formatting, and other markers to flag altered pay stubs and bank statements before a lease is signed, later adding an income verification product that pulls data directly from payroll providers as an alternative to submitted paperwork. Snappt says its tools are used across more than a thousand multifamily properties in the U.S. and that a meaningful share of applications screened each month show signs of tampering. In 2022 Snappt raised a $100 million Series A led by Insight Partners, one of the larger single rounds in the proptech fraud-prevention space, and the company has continued to expand its income and employment verification products since.
