Shift Technology
AI decisioning platform that helps P&C and health insurers detect fraud and automate claims and underwriting decisions.
Shift Technology builds AI models that sit inside an insurer's claims and underwriting workflow to flag fraud, assess coverage and liability, and recommend next steps to a human handler. Founded in Paris in 2014 by Jeremy Jawish, Eric Sibony and David Durrleman, the company started with fraud detection and has since built out modules covering subrogation, injury claims, payment integrity, and a cross-carrier data network that lets insurers see patterns across shared claims history. It now serves more than 120 insurers across 30-plus countries, including a majority of the largest US P&C carriers. Shift raised a $220 million Series D in 2021 led by Advent International, pushing total funding past $320 million and valuation above $1 billion. The company has leaned into generative and agentic AI more recently, adding assistants that draft claim summaries and recommend liability determinations rather than only scoring fraud risk, putting it in more direct competition with core systems vendors like Guidewire and Duck Creek as well as fraud-specific players like Shift's own former category peers.
