Beijing AI company behind Vidu, a text-, image- and reference-to-video generation model competing in the global AI video race.

Shengshu Technology (Shengshu AI) is a Beijing-based generative-AI startup founded in March 2023, with Tsinghua University professor Zhu Jun serving as chief scientist. The company develops Vidu, a video-generation model that launched globally in July 2024 and introduced an early Reference-to-Video capability for maintaining consistent subjects across generated clips. Shengshu has iterated rapidly through Vidu Q1, Q2 and Q3, adding features such as synchronized audio-video generation, native 1080p output and multilingual text rendering. The company has attracted major investment: a Series A+ round of over RMB 600 million in early 2026 with strategic backers including Wondershare, followed by an approximately $300 million round in April 2026 led by Alibaba Cloud, with additional backing from Baidu Ventures.
