Palo Alto image-generation lab behind Reve Image, a text-to-image and editing model known for accurate typography and native 4K output.

Reve AI was founded in 2023 in Palo Alto by Michael Gharbi, a former Adobe and Google researcher, Taesung Park, known for image-to-image translation research including CycleGAN and pix2pix, and Mike Speiser, a longtime Sutter Hill Ventures investor who has co-founded several enterprise software companies. The company stayed quiet during development and launched Reve Image 1.0 in March 2025. Reve Image drew attention by topping the Artificial Analysis image arena leaderboard ahead of Midjourney, Flux, and Google's Imagen on release, largely on the strength of its prompt adherence and its unusually clean handling of text rendered inside images. The follow-up Reve 2.0/2.1 release added a layout-first architecture that plans image composition before rendering pixels, along with native 4K generation and chat-based conversational editing. Reve has raised roughly $350 million, reaching a reported $1.9 billion valuation, with investors including Left Lane Capital, Top Harvest Capital, and Basis Set Ventures.
