Reface is the product name and public identity of Neocortext Inc., a Ukrainian AI app studio whose face-swap technology went viral worldwide starting in 2020 under the working name Doublicat. The team's roots trace to Neocortext, a machine-learning project started by Kyiv-Mohyla Academy students in the early 2010s that pivoted to generative face-swap tooling and relaunched as Reface. The app has since passed 250 million downloads and expanded into a portfolio of consumer apps including Restyle (AI photo filters), Revive (photo animation), and Ink AI (AI tattoo design). The company is based in Kyiv and has continued operating through the full-scale war, employing close to 190 people. Reface raised early seed funding backed by Andreessen Horowitz along with investors from gaming (Supercell's Ilkka Paananen, Unity's David Helgason) and music-management circles, and more recently secured an $18 million non-dilutive revenue-share deal with Singapore's PvX Partners for user acquisition. Leadership transitioned in 2023 when co-founder Dima Shvets stepped down as CEO, handing day-to-day operations to co-CEOs Ivan Altsybieiev and Anton Volovyk.
