Read AI is a Seattle-based enterprise productivity company founded in 2021 by David Shim, Robert Williams, and Elliott Waldron. Shim previously founded the location-analytics company Placed. Its software uses generative AI to summarize meetings, emails, and messages, and layers on analytics such as engagement, sentiment, and speaker talk-time. Read connects across Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Gmail, and Slack to build what the company calls a 'connected intelligence' view of a user's communications rather than a single-meeting transcript. The company raised a $10 million seed led by Madrona, a $21 million Series A led by Goodwater Capital in April 2024, and a $50 million Series B led by Smash Capital in October 2024 at a reported $450 million valuation, bringing total funding to about $81 million.
