project44 was founded in Chicago in 2014 by Jett McCandless, who has remained CEO through the company's growth into one of the largest supply chain visibility providers, in part through acquisitions such as GateHouse Logistics. The company connects shippers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers so freight can be tracked across truckload, LTL, ocean, rail, and parcel modes from a single system rather than separate carrier portals. Its Movement platform organizes this around real-time tracking, predictive ETAs, delivery appointment scheduling, and AI agents that can act on exceptions - rebooking a failed shipment, contacting a carrier for an update, or flagging a delay before it becomes a customer complaint. Home Depot has reported a 70% drop in 'where's my order' customer service calls after adopting the platform, and project44 has increasingly marketed the emissions-reporting side of Movement to shippers tracking Scope 3 targets. The company has raised over $900 million, including an $80 million round in November 2022 led by Generation Investment Management and A.P. Moller Holding that valued it at $2.7 billion. It employs roughly 800 people globally and competes most directly with FourKites and Descartes MacroPoint.
