Outerbase

AI-powered database GUI that lets teams query, edit, and visualize Postgres, MySQL, and warehouse data in plain English; acquired by Cloudflare in 2025.

Outerbase was founded in 2022 by Brandon Strittmatter and Brayden Wilmoth and went through Y Combinator's Winter 2023 batch as a small, four-person team building what they described as a modern interface for databases — a spreadsheet-like editor and query tool that sits on top of Postgres, MySQL, BigQuery, Redshift, and other sources without requiring a local client or a lot of SQL knowledge from every team member. Its most distinctive feature, EZQL, lets non-technical teammates ask a question in plain English and get back a working SQL query and a chart, rather than forcing everyone through the one person on the team who actually knows SQL. Cloudflare acquired Outerbase in April 2025, folding it into Cloudflare's developer platform to give Workers and D1 users a browser-based way to view and edit their databases directly. Outerbase continues to run as its own product with its own pricing.
