OpusClip (operated by Opus Labs, also known as Opus.pro) was founded in January 2022 by Young Zhao, Grace Wang, and Jay W. The company builds an AI video editing platform that automatically identifies the most engaging moments in long-form video and repurposes them into short vertical clips optimized for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels. The platform has grown to more than 10 million users and added features such as OpusSearch. OpusClip has raised roughly $79M in total funding, including a $20M growth investment from SoftBank Vision Fund 2 in March 2025 at a $215M valuation, with participation from DCM Ventures, AIGrant, and Millennium New Horizons. OpusClip is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, with a distributed team of around 145 people across North America, Asia, and Europe.
