Engineering software company behind an implicit-modeling CAD platform that lets engineers generate, simulate and manufacture complex lightweight parts.

nTop, founded in 2015 as nTopology and rebranded in 2023, builds computational design software for engineers working in aerospace, defense, medical devices and motorsport. Its core technology represents geometry as continuous mathematical fields rather than traditional CAD boundary surfaces, an approach called implicit modeling that lets engineers define lattices, cooling channels and organic lightweight structures that would be difficult or impossible to build in conventional CAD tools. The nTop platform combines this implicit-modeling engine with embedded structural, thermal and fluid simulation, letting engineers iterate on physics-driven designs inside a single environment instead of shuttling files between separate CAD and CAE packages. Customers include General Motors, Lockheed Martin, Divergent 3D and several defense and medical device makers who use nTop to design parts for additive manufacturing. The company is based in New York City and has raised more than $130 million from investors including Insight Partners, Root Ventures and Canaan Partners across several funding rounds since its founding.
