Notion is an all-in-one productivity and collaboration workspace that combines note-taking, document editing, wikis, task and project management, and relational databases into a single customizable tool, and has since added AI-powered features (Notion AI). It was founded in 2013 by Ivan Zhao and Simon Last. The company's early product had limited traction; by 2015 it relocated its small team to Kyoto, Japan, to rebuild the product on a smaller budget. Notion 1.0 launched in 2018 and grew largely through community-led, template-driven adoption. Notion's most recent priced funding round was a $275 million Series C in October 2021, led by Sequoia Capital and Coatue, valuing the company at $10 billion. A December 2025 employee share sale, in which Sequoia, Index Ventures, and GIC purchased shares, implied a valuation of approximately $11 billion. Notion is headquartered in San Francisco, with additional offices in New York and elsewhere, and reported surpassing $600 million in annual recurring revenue by late 2025.
