Nanonets
AI-powered OCR and workflow automation platform that extracts data from documents and runs it through custom back-office processes.

Nanonets was founded in San Francisco in 2017 by Sarthak Jain and Prathamesh Juvatkar, both with backgrounds in machine learning, to make document data extraction accessible without requiring a data science team. The company started as a self-serve OCR API for training custom extraction models on invoices, receipts, ID documents and similar paperwork, and reports customers across more than 1,000 organizations including a sizable share of Fortune 500 firms. Nanonets grew largely without outside capital in its early years before raising a Series A in 2022 and a $29 million Series B led by Accel in March 2024 to fund its expansion into full workflow automation. That expansion produced Nanonets Flow, a product for building multi-step automations that combine document extraction with approvals, database writes and app integrations, aimed at accounts payable, order processing and insurance back-office teams. The company has leaned into an AI-agent framing for Flow, letting teams describe a process in natural language and have the system assemble the extraction and routing steps. Nanonets remains privately held and has not disclosed a public roadmap beyond continuing to expand its workflow and agent tooling alongside its original OCR API business.
