Monzo is a UK digital bank offering personal and business accounts, payments, savings, lending, investments, pensions, insurance and related financial products through smartphone apps and web-based services.

Monzo was founded in early 2015 and launched as a digital challenger bank accessed through a smartphone app. It initially operated under the name Mondo before adopting the Monzo name in August 2016. The company became a regulated UK bank in August 2016 and received unrestricted banking authorisation in April 2017. Monzo offers personal and business accounts, payments, savings, credit cards, loans, investments, pensions and insurance-related products. Its services are primarily delivered through its smartphone app, with web-based access available for some services. Monzo’s 2025 annual report reported more than 12 million customers for the financial year ended March 2025, alongside growth in revenue, deposits and profitability. Current company press materials state that more than 16 million personal and business customers use Monzo and that more than 2,000 people work for the company.
