YC-backed startup that auto-generates and self-maintains frontend end-to-end tests by replaying real user sessions instead of scripting flows by hand.

Meticulous was founded in London in 2021 by brothers Gabriel and Quentin Spencer-Harper, who previously worked at Palantir and Dropbox, and went through Y Combinator's Summer 2021 batch. The company's premise is that most teams don't skip end-to-end testing because they don't value it — they skip it because writing and then endlessly maintaining brittle E2E scripts is more work than most teams can sustain. Instead of a human writing test scripts, Meticulous silently records real user sessions in a running application — clicks, network requests, application state — and replays them deterministically against new code changes, flagging visual and functional regressions without anyone writing a line of test code. The suite evolves automatically as the app changes, since new sessions get folded in continuously rather than requiring a developer to update existing scripts. The company raised a $4 million seed round backed by Y Combinator, Coatue and Soma Capital, and closed a $15 million Series A led by Chemistry with participation from Menlo Ventures. Customers include Dropbox, Notion, ElevenLabs and Wealthsimple, and the product currently supports React, Vue, Angular, Next.js, SvelteKit and other major frontend frameworks.
