Mem0 (legally Embedchain Inc.) was founded in 2023 by Taranjeet Singh and Deshraj Yadav. Singh previously worked at Paytm and Khatabook, while Yadav led AI platform work at Tesla Autopilot. The company is headquartered in San Francisco and went through Y Combinator. Mem0's product is an open-source "memory layer" that lets AI agents and LLM-based applications remember facts and context across sessions, aiming to be a default infrastructure layer the way a database is for traditional software. It is used by developers building agentic and conversational AI applications. In October 2025, Mem0 announced $24M in combined funding: a previously unannounced $3.9M seed round led by Kindred Ventures and a $20M Series A led by Basis Set Ventures, with participation from Peak XV Partners, GitHub Fund, and Y Combinator, plus angel investors including Olivier Pomel (Datadog) and Paul Copplestone (Supabase).
