Denver-based edtech startup providing 80-plus AI tools that help K-12 teachers plan lessons, grade work, and differentiate instruction.

MagicSchool AI was founded in Denver in 2023 by Adeel Khan, a former teacher and school principal who built the first version of the product after reaching out directly to teachers he knew and asking them to try it. The platform grew from a lesson-plan generator into a suite of more than 80 tools covering rubrics, IEPs, report-card comments, presentations, quizzes and a student-facing AI tutor, aimed squarely at reducing the unpaid hours teachers spend on prep and paperwork. The company has raised roughly $65 million, including a $45 million Series B led by Valor Equity Partners with participation from Bain Capital Ventures, Adobe Ventures and Atreides Management, following an earlier $15 million Series A. MagicSchool says more than 7 million educators have signed up and over 4,000 schools and districts, including Denver, Seattle and Atlanta Public Schools, are partners, and the platform is SOC 2-certified and FERPA/COPPA-compliant with no student or teacher data used to train its models.
