Stockholm-born collaborative AI platform where lawyers research, review, and draft inside one shared workspace built for firm-wide matter work.

Legora (originally launched as Leya) was started in Stockholm in 2023 by Max Junestrand, Sigge Labor and August Erseus, two of whom had spent years experimenting with early GPT and BERT models before generative AI became mainstream in law. The product is built around the idea that legal AI should live inside how a firm already works: a web workspace plus a Microsoft Word add-in that lets lawyers negotiate, review, and draft against a firm's own playbooks and precedent, rather than a standalone chatbot bolted onto a document. The company went through Y Combinator's Winter 2024 batch and has since expanded from a single Stockholm law firm client to firms across more than 40 markets, with offices added in London, New York, Denver, Sydney and Bengaluru. Funding accelerated quickly: an $80 million Series B in 2025 was followed within months by a $150 million Series C and then a $550 million Series D led by Accel that valued the company at roughly $5.55 billion, with NVIDIA and Atlassian joining as strategic backers. Legora positions itself against Harvey and traditional legal research incumbents by leaning on multiplayer document review — several lawyers working the same contract or due-diligence set simultaneously with AI assistance — rather than single-user chat sessions.
