Latitude is a Utah-founded startup that has spent since 2019 building AI-powered games where the player, not a fixed script, decides what happens next. Its first product, AI Dungeon, let anyone type a scenario and watch a language model improvise the rest, becoming one of the earliest mainstream demonstrations of GPT-3 outside research demos and pulling in millions of players within its first year. The company weathered a rocky stretch in 2021 when a heavy-handed content moderation rollout triggered a user backlash; Latitude reversed course within months, dropped human moderation of private stories, and rebuilt trust around encrypted, user-controlled content. It has raised seed funding from investors including NFX and Griffin Gaming Partners. In April 2026, Latitude opened an expanded beta for Voyage, a new AI-native RPG platform built on what it calls a World Engine, aimed at letting players design and share persistent AI-driven worlds rather than just improvise single sessions.
