Katalist was founded in 2023 in New York by CEO Andraz Zvonar and CTO Blaz Blokar, who set out to remove the manual grind of building a storyboard from a script. The platform reads a screenplay or outline, breaks it into scenes, and renders each one in a chosen visual style — including a dedicated comic book mode — while keeping the same characters recognizable across dozens of panels. The company raised a $1.5 million seed round from 500 Global and South Central Ventures. Its client base spans independent filmmakers, ad agencies, and comic creators who use the tool to pitch a visual direction before committing to full production, and it has become a recurring name on creator-economy toolkits alongside more established storyboard software.
