Jupiter Intelligence was founded in 2017 by Rich Sorkin, Eric Wun, Josh Hacker, and oceanographer Alan Blumberg, and is headquartered in San Mateo, California. The company built its business around translating downscaled climate models into risk metrics that finance teams can plug directly into underwriting, credit, and portfolio decisions. Its flagship product, ClimateScore Global, models nine physical perils, including flood, heat, drought, tropical cyclones, wind, and wildfire, across three emissions scenarios out to the year 2100, covering billions of locations worldwide. A companion adaptation engine estimates avoided losses and return on investment across more than ten resilience strategies, such as flood barriers or building retrofits. Jupiter states that roughly a quarter of the world's largest financial institutions use its data, including several of the largest U.S. banks and insurers. The company has raised roughly $86 million over multiple rounds, most recently a Series C round, from investors including DCVC and Energize Ventures. Jupiter employs a little over 80 people.
