Ironclad builds contract lifecycle management (CLM) software that legal, sales, and procurement teams use to route contracts through approval workflows, redline them collaboratively, and store the executed versions in a searchable repository. Founded in San Francisco in 2014 by former Fenwick & West attorney Jason Boehmig and former Palantir engineer Cai GoGwilt, the company built its workflow designer around the idea that contracting is a business process problem as much as a legal one, letting non-lawyers kick off standard agreements without waiting on legal for every step. Ironclad has raised roughly $334 million across seven rounds, including a $150 million Series E in 2022 led by Franklin Templeton, and has grown to around 800 employees serving more than 2,000 customers. In 2025 the company brought in former DocuSign CEO Dan Springer to lead the next stage of growth, with founder Jason Boehmig moving to executive chairman. Ironclad has added an AI layer, marketed as Jurist, that reviews and redlines incoming paper against a company's playbook, putting it in direct competition with Icertis, LinkSquares, and DocuSign's own CLM push.
