Interprefy was founded in Zurich in 2014 by Kim Ludvigsen to move simultaneous interpretation out of the physical booth and onto the cloud, letting professional interpreters work remotely on live events instead of traveling on-site for every conference. Alongside its original remote simultaneous interpretation (RSI) service, which routes speaker audio to human interpreters connected through the platform, Interprefy has added an AI-powered machine interpretation and live-captioning option for lower-budget events or those needing more language pairs than it's practical to staff with human interpreters. Annett Polaszewski-Plath now leads the company as CEO, with founder Kim Ludvigsen serving as Vice-Chairman for vision and strategic partnerships; Interprefy integrates with Zoom, Webex, Microsoft Teams, and other conferencing tools and competes with KUDO and Wordly for corporate and association event business.
