Matches nonprofits and researchers to grants using a searchable funder database, AI-ranked fit scores, and deadline tracking.

Instrumentl was founded in 2015 by Gauri Manglik and Angela Braren, later joined by Katharine Corriveau, and went through Y Combinator's Summer 2016 batch. The company is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and built a platform that helps nonprofits, universities, and consultants find grants they're actually eligible for, rather than searching foundation directories by hand. The platform maintains a database of more than 450,000 funder profiles and tens of thousands of active RFPs, updated by an internal research team and matched against an organization's programs and prior funding history. Instrumentl says its more than 4,500 customers have collectively won over $1 billion in grants and now manage more than $6 billion through the platform. In April 2025 the company raised $55 million in growth funding from Summit Partners to expand its AI-matching features and scale customer acquisition in the U.S.
