IconScout

Design asset marketplace, now part of LottieFiles, with AI tools that generate custom icons, illustrations, and 3D assets from text prompts.

IconScout started in Surat, India in 2016, founded by Dalpat Prajapati along with Mohit Gandhi and Varun Trivedi, initially as a marketplace where independent designers could sell icon packs and illustrations. The company ran bootstrapped for years and was the first company to receive design grants from both Adobe's Fund for Design and InVision's Design Forward Fund. In February 2021, IconScout was acquired by LottieFiles, the platform behind the Lottie animation format, but it continues to operate as its own product and brand within that company. The marketplace has since grown to millions of icons, illustrations, 3D assets, and Lottie animations. More recently IconScout added a suite of generative tools that sit alongside the marketplace, letting users create custom icons, illustrations, and 3D assets from a text prompt using a mix of third-party image models rather than only browsing pre-made stock.
