Public multinational technology company (NYSE: IBM); watsonx is its enterprise AI and data platform for building, training, and governing AI models.

IBM traces its founding to June 16, 1911, when Charles Ranlett Flint amalgamated four companies into the Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company (CTR); it was renamed International Business Machines in 1924 and moved its headquarters to Armonk, New York in 1964. IBM trades on the NYSE under ticker IBM and spans hardware, software, consulting, and cloud services, with a workforce of roughly 280,000. Watsonx, launched May 9, 2023, is IBM's enterprise AI and data platform, comprising watsonx.ai (a studio for training, tuning, and deploying foundation models including IBM's Granite models), watsonx.data (an open data lakehouse), and watsonx.governance (a toolkit for AI risk and compliance management). Arvind Krishna has served as CEO since April 2020 and also holds the roles of Chairman and President.
