Granola is a meeting-notes startup founded in 2023 by Chris Pedregal and Sam Stephenson and headquartered in London. Pedregal previously founded the education app Socratic, which grew to more than 10 million monthly users and was acquired by Google in 2018. Granola's approach differs from most notetakers. Rather than sending a bot into a call, it captures the computer's system audio locally, then combines the user's own typed shorthand with a full transcript to produce an enhanced, structured summary that preserves the user's voice. Because it relies on system audio, it also works for in-person conversations, not just video calls. The company launched publicly in May 2024 after a $4.25 million seed round led by Lightspeed. In May 2025 it raised a $43 million Series B led by NFDG at a reported $250 million valuation, bringing total funding to about $67 million, and added a workspace for teams.
