Foyer Technologies was co-founded in late 2021 by Pratyush Rai, Siddhartha Saxena, and Sirsendu Sarkar to build Merlin, a Chrome extension and web app that puts a single AI chat sidebar on top of whatever page a user is browsing. Rather than building its own foundation model, Merlin functions as an aggregator, routing conversations to models from providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google depending on the task and the user's plan. The company raised roughly $7 million in seed funding from investors including Better Capital India and HubSpot co-founder Dharmesh Shah, and has grown Merlin to more than a million users primarily through its Chrome Web Store presence, where it holds a strong overall rating across thousands of reviews, alongside features for summarizing pages, drafting replies on sites like Gmail and LinkedIn, and generating images without leaving the browser tab.
