Fotor is an online and mobile photo editing and design platform developed by Chengdu Everimaging Science and Technology Co., Ltd. It was founded in 2012 in Chengdu, China, by Tony Duan, who holds a PhD from the University of Nottingham with research in computer vision and digital image processing; the parent company Everimaging dates to 2009 and specializes in HDR imaging and photo-editing technology. Operating on a freemium model, Fotor began as a photo editor and has expanded into a broader creative suite. In September 2022 it added AI-powered tools including an AI photo enhancer, AI background remover and AI object remover, followed by a text-to-image AI generator producing photos, logos, 3D characters and illustrations. The platform reports more than 800 million users across 200+ countries and regions.
