Fireworks AI was founded in late 2022 by Lin Qiao (CEO, formerly Head of PyTorch at Meta) along with several other former Meta PyTorch engineers, including Dmytro Dzhulgakov (CTO). The company is headquartered in Redwood City, California, and offers inference-as-a-service for open-source and custom models, built on proprietary optimization technology (the FireAttention CUDA kernel, speculative decoding, and the FireOptimizer serving engine). Fireworks raised a $250 million Series C in October 2025 at a $4 billion valuation, co-led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Index Ventures, and Evantic with continued backing from Sequoia Capital, bringing total funding to about $327 million. As of mid-2026 the company reported serving more than 10,000 enterprise customers and processing over ten trillion tokens daily.
