Figure AI is a robotics company founded in 2022 by Brett Adcock, the entrepreneur behind Vettery and electric aviation startup Archer. Based in San Jose, California, Figure builds bipedal humanoid robots aimed at commercial and industrial work rather than research demos, betting that a single general-purpose robot body can eventually be retrained across many jobs instead of custom-engineered for each one. The company's current robot, Figure 03, runs on Helix, Figure's own vision-language-action model that maps camera and language input directly to motor commands rather than relying on hand-coded routines. In 2026, BMW began running Figure 03 units on real parts-sequencing work at its Spartanburg, South Carolina plant, moving the robot from choreographed demo reels into a paying production line, a distinction the company leans on heavily given how many humanoid robot videos turn out to be teleoperated or edited. Figure closed a Series C of more than $1 billion in late 2025 at a valuation near $39 billion, with backers including Nvidia, Qualcomm Ventures, Salesforce, Intel Capital, and Brookfield Asset Management. That capital is funding a dedicated manufacturing facility intended to scale production well beyond the hand-built units of its early robots.
