Fathom is a San Francisco company founded in 2020 by Richard White, previously the founder of UserVoice. It went through Y Combinator's Winter 2021 batch and launched publicly in 2022 with $4.7 million in seed funding backed by early Zoom investors. The product is an AI notetaker that joins video calls on Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams to record, transcribe, and summarize them automatically. Fathom is best known for a free plan that includes unlimited recordings and summaries, alongside paid Team Editions that add CRM synchronization, shared folders, keyword tracking, and analytics. In September 2024 the company raised a $17 million Series A led by Telescope Partners, part of which came from its own users through a Wefunder campaign, bringing total funding to roughly $22 million.
