Everlaw

Cloud-native ediscovery and litigation platform for document review, legal holds, and investigations.

Everlaw

Everlaw builds a browser-based ediscovery platform that legal teams use to collect, review, and analyze documents for litigation, internal investigations, and regulatory inquiries. Founded in 2010 by AJ Shankar, a Berkeley computer science PhD, and Jeff Friedman, a former federal prosecutor, the company built its platform around the idea that ediscovery software should be as fast and intuitive as consumer web tools rather than the clunky, on-premise review software law firms had been stuck with. It's now used by attorneys general in all 50 US states and 91 of the Am Law 200 firms. The company raised $202 million in a Series D round in November 2021 led by TPG Growth, pushing its valuation above $2 billion, and has continued adding AI features including a Writing Assistant that helps compile reviewed facts into narrative summaries and Deep Dive tools for exploring large document sets. Everlaw has ranked #1 on G2's ediscovery grid for several consecutive quarters, competing most directly with Relativity, DISCO, and Logikcull in a market where large litigation and investigation teams are increasingly price-sensitive about per-gigabyte hosting costs.
