ev.energy was founded in 2018 by Nick Woolley and Chris Darby and is headquartered in London, with a second office in Palo Alto. The company is B Corp certified and backed by investors including National Grid Partners, Aviva Ventures, Energy Impact Partners and ArcTern Ventures, having raised a $33 million Series B in 2023 on top of an earlier Series A, for roughly $46 million total. The company's platform, marketed to consumers as the Eve app, connects to a driver's EV or smart charger and shifts charging sessions to cheaper or greener periods on the grid, while the same underlying system is licensed to utilities and automakers as a white-label demand-response and load-management tool. ev.energy says it has enrolled more than 300,000 users and deployed over 55 utility smart-charging programs across nine markets in North America and Europe.
