D-ID develops generative AI technology for creating photorealistic AI-driven digital avatars and talking-head videos from a photo and text or audio script.

D-ID was founded in 2017 by Gil Perry (CEO), Sella Blondheim, and Eliran Kuta, veterans of an elite Israeli intelligence unit, and is headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel. The company initially focused on facial de-identification / anti-facial-recognition technology (the source of its name) before pivoting to its current focus: generative AI tools for creating realistic AI avatars, talking-head videos, and synthetic presenters. D-ID has raised a total of about $48 million across multiple funding rounds, including a Series B round in March 2022 and a further $25 million round in December 2025, from investors including Pitango and OurCrowd. D-ID's Creative Reality Studio and APIs are used for corporate video, e-learning, marketing, and customer-service avatars; the company reported nearly doubling its headcount over the past year to around 161 employees.
