Cyera

Data security platform that discovers, classifies and protects sensitive data, and the AI systems that touch it, across cloud, SaaS and on-premises.

Cyera was founded in 2021 by Yotam Segev and Tamar Bar-Ilan, both alumni of Israel's Unit 8200 intelligence unit who had built and run the IDF's cloud security division. The company set out to build data security posture management (DSPM) around a simple premise: security teams can't protect data they don't know exists, so Cyera's platform continuously discovers and classifies sensitive data wherever it lives, in cloud storage, SaaS applications, databases and AI pipelines, without requiring agents on every system. In October 2024 Cyera acquired Trail Security, an AI-native data loss prevention startup, for $162 million, folding real-time DLP into its DSPM foundation to cover data both at rest and in motion. In 2025 it launched AI Guardian, extending the same data-centric approach to securing AI systems themselves, covering public tools like ChatGPT, embedded AI in SaaS products such as Microsoft Copilot, and homegrown LLM applications. Cyera has raised more than $2 billion since founding across a rapid sequence of rounds, growing from a Series C in 2024 to a Series G in 2026, with investors including Sequoia, Accel, Coatue and Blackstone. The company operates a dual-headquarters model, with commercial operations based in New York and product and R&D based in Tel Aviv.
