Crowdin was founded in 2009 by Ukrainian developer Serhiy Dmytryshyn, who remains founder and CEO, and the company has grown to more than a million registered users without raising outside venture funding, headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia. The platform lets engineering and product teams manage translation strings alongside source code, with in-context screenshots, translation memory, and QA checks. Over the past two years Crowdin added native connections to OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic's Claude, Mistral AI, xAI, DeepSeek, and IBM watsonx, so teams configure their own AI translation pipeline and model choice rather than relying on a single built-in engine. Crowdin reported roughly $13.2 million in 2025 revenue with a team of around 120 people, and it positions itself as the lower-cost, bootstrapped alternative to venture-backed competitors like Lokalise and Phrase, particularly for small and mid-sized engineering teams and open-source projects.
