Bengaluru-founded agri-tech company whose Cropin Cloud platform digitizes farm data for large agribusinesses, NGOs, and governments across 100+ countries.

Cropin was founded in Bangalore in 2010 by Krishna Kumar, Kunal Prasad and Chittaranjan Jena, years before "agtech" became a familiar word in Indian startup circles. The founders had watched agribusinesses and development organizations try to run large farming programs on spreadsheets and paper records, and set out to build a purpose-built cloud platform for tracking crops, plots, and farmer activity at scale instead. Cropin Cloud today combines satellite monitoring, weather data, and an AI engine the company calls its Crop Knowledge Graph, covering roughly 500 crops and thousands of varieties, to give agribusinesses, seed companies, and government agencies visibility into farming operations spread across huge, often smallholder-dominated, geographies. The company says its tools have digitized more than 16 million acres of farmland across over 100 countries, working with organizations including the Gates Foundation and seed, input, and food and beverage companies that need traceability back to individual farms. The company has raised roughly $54 million total, including a $14 million round that brought in Google and JSR Corporation as new investors, and in 2026 it introduced an agentic AI layer on top of its existing platform aimed at automating more of the advisory work its software used to just surface as dashboards.
